I indeed have a Pepper! His brother was named Salt at the rescue before we changed his name to Pippin, but we couldn’t come up with something that was more fun to say than Pepper. It fits…he’s a spicy Pepper and a sweet Pepper. His nicknames hit other foods/drinks: Pepsi, Pepperoni, Dr. Pepper, etc.

It’s called illusion mesh—similar to tulle, but much, much stronger and more finely woven.

Right back at you—this made me smile! ❤️

Fun project!

It blew my mind when I first heard about it, and back then people were just printing on tulle (0/10 do not recommend printing on tulle, at least not the cheap stuff I tried!). So many possibilities!

Thanks! That’s sort of what I’m going for, so it’s good to hear I’m on the right track. My mom used to combine appliqué with the sequins/beads on my dresses. It was so cool.

Also first layer height is 24 mm...not sure if that's helpful for this problem, but Daniel at Kaizen 3D recommends that in his instructions for the PFLATs he sells so I thought it was worth mentioning.

I don't know if this would help, but I also set elephant foot compensation to 0. I did that to get more accurate shapes on the first layer, but it might help a little with small pieces sticking.

Oh no! I don't know how much I can help, because I somehow have lucked out and haven't had any issues, either with the PFLATs or the silk filaments. But I can share my settings.

Bed: 60°C
Nozzle: 230°C first layer, 225°C after (but had no problems at 215°C either)
Speed: 20 mm/s first layer

Wow now that was something buried deep in my memory! 😂 I can see it too now!

Love this! Reminds me of my rosy maple mothfolk D&D character. She’s a bard who canonically reads romance novels. 😂

So if you have a young person in your life, and want to pass on in a small part the essence of a wise, kind soul who dedicated his life to peace, education, and justice, take a moment to read these lines to them. And if you don't have a little one at hand, maybe read them aloud to your own heart.
