We’ve put a lot of work into making Bluesky a healthier social network. This app is designed to give you a choice — in what you want to see, what you don’t want to see, and how you want to interact.

Some tips on how to customize your experience:

Based on a wonderful suggestion from @jaustinedu.bsky.social, I've created a rough Starter Pack for those involved with #ungrading & alternative #assessment.

If I forgot someone (I'm sure I have!), please forgive me & let me know if you want to be added to the list. Thanks!

Do any of you use e-ink tablet notebooks? I take handwritten notes at meetings and my to do list is handwritten. Everything else in my life is digital (calendar, etc.) but I can’t seem to switch from handwritten notes. I’m debating between SuperNote and Remarkable right now.

Last year Wake Forest presented a session on Annual Reports and I’m proud to say our CETL published its inaugural report this fall because of that session. We are also tracking our interactions more effectively via Airtable because of that same session. POD rocks! Thanks Wake Forest!
At Wake Forest, they have three senior staff at their CTL. They track their work w/ individual instructors and their organizational development work. Every year if the one increases, the other decreases, like clockwork. There's a very tangible trade-off between the two in terms of staff time. #POD24

It’s definitely a challenge to read through all the session choices at #POD24 but it’s worth it. 😀
If you’re looking for session abstracts on the #POD24 program website, tap on the download icon at the upper right. It took me a minute to find that.

Hey #POD24, Kate Flom Derrick & I have been talking with CTLs about the role “one-off” workshops play in their work. I’ve been particularly interested in the question, given the scuttlebutt about workshops relative to intensive programming. Come engage with our initial findings on Monday at 10:30!

I can't wait for #POD24 in Chicago next week, my first time at POD.

I will be talking up the new OU Press series "Teaching, Engaging, and Thriving in Higher Ed," showing off cool books, and not least, spending time with folks working hard to put more light in the world.

My new blog post at Psychology Today. I list some potential signs of cognitive decline that you might see in a candidate.

I’m presenting a session next week to our faculty on the pros/cons a 0-4 grading scale (instead of 0-100%) & how to “hack” our LMS gradebook to support it. I’m curious if anyone in my network has any resources, or insights with the 0-4 scale they would share with me?

For those who use alt-grading in some form, how did you get started: By going all-in with a complete redesign of your grading system, or by making one or more small incremental changes to a traditional approach? Or something else? Bluesky doesn't do polls so LMK in the replies.
