My Great Great Uncle John was killed in 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated at Tyne Cot, and we visited with a very small E in 2017 for the centenary of his death.

At the going down of the Sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

Mystery anonymous person, you have concealed yourself very neatly but your very generous donation has topped me up to a solid £1000! Thank you! That’s four full days of a Macmillan nurse and many people who will benefit from your generosity! THANK YOU X

Final training walk for the Macmillan Mighty Hike in a fortnight. Will I run a marathon? Absolutely not. Will I walk one with pre-advertised snack breaks? Absolutely.

Said a sad farewell to our very elderly tabby cat earlier. She has been the oldest cat on the books at the vets for ages, at the grand old age of at least twenty four. She’s been ours for twelve of those and we loved her for all of that time. Rest well Molly.

Great to be here celebrating the enormous contribution volunteers have made to the creation of the Railway work, life and death project, lead by my marvellous colleague James Cronan, former colleague, Chris Heather and Mike Esbester from the University of Portsmouth #volunteersweek

Yesterday’s training walk in the Chilterns was a ten-and-a-bit mile loop from West Wycombe to Hughenden and back again in something pertaining to sunshine.

Very honoured and pleased to have been nominated for a @jackpetchey.bsky.social award for ‘outstanding service to young people’ for my work in @girlguidingglw in @girlguidingtwickenham. Our girls are such a brilliant bunch. It’s a pleasure and a privilege to be their leader.

A lovely evening talking about my recent book, based on my PhD which I finished at @essexuni.bsky.social in 2023 with Pam Cox. More about it here: link.springer.com/book/10.1007...

Four hours stuck on a train involved in a critical incident, and finally on the way home. This did mean the whole carriage got to meet Luna who is a Very Good Dog and permitted much fussing and caressing of ears.

Molly sees you, Monday, and she does not care for you. She’ll be asleep under the radiator until further notice.

Merry Christmas. Raising a glass of ginger ale and a cherry, because why not. Wishing anyone celebrating today a wonderful Wigilia!

When it’s the parkrun before Christmas, sometimes as the RD, you can take advantage and delivered your briefing in a known style… ‘twas the parkrun before Christmas!
