Gen Z's opinion of Trump has shifted dramatically in just 3 months; a massive negative shift of 37 points from +19 to -18. It's too bad it took implementing Project 2025 instead of just reading it or watching a video about it or listening to a podcast about it.

4th February 2025, Norman Wisdom would have been 110. So here's a photo of him at The Goldstone, former home of Brighton & Hove Albion FC, singing "a new club song" (I was told it was Sussex by the Sea)
Apologies for being a day late, missed doing yesterday.

The scale of the decline of Google search in quality, relevance, usability and more should have triggered a full-scale alarm in Alphabet’s boardroom months ago.

The fact the company is just plodding on while its core product is visibly worse than it was is a disaster.
This is a particularly bad case-study in how badly AI summarization can go when its exposed to the wilds of the internet - posted some notes on my blog: simonwillison.net/2024/Dec/29/...

Tis the feast of St Nicholas, 4th century Bishop of Myra. Legend has it he rescued 3 boys who had been killed and put in a barrel by a butcher who wanted to pickle them then sell them off as ham.

I can't resist one last tree post as part of #nationaltreeweek

This is the tree-V! Just outside Ditchling on the road to Lewes and planted in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

3,060 trees planted at the cost of just over £12!

hard to exaggerate how nuts the engagement is on Bluesky compared to 𝕏. a vastly smaller user base (at least officially), but just look at these stats for one of the biggest newspapers on Earth. Musk has absolutely trashed the platform. folks, you are not locked in on 𝕏. not even a little.
