Also, I got some interesting rock things:
Two meteorite samples, both iron. One is from France and the other from central Australia. A close up of one meteorite, which has been cut to expose the the inside of the specimen. It is clearly metallic yet shows some interesting crystalline structures that look similar to a lattice. The outside of the cut meteorite. This surface was exposed to the Earth’s atmosphere as the object entered and landed. Whereas the cut side is shiny metal, this side is predominantly black.

My first #meteorite specimens arrived today & I’m massively nerding out over them! 🤓 It blows my mind to hold these fragments of a long dead star’s core in my own two hands!

I’m giddy with excitement. 🥹

Two little meteorites on display stands. One is cut to expose its interior, which is a dull metallic colour with interesting and clear crystalline structures on display. The other is a complete meteorite, dark grey with a red-orange iron oxide patina. Both are class IIIAB iron meteorites. The cut specimen is a Saint Aubin found in France in 1968, and the complete specimen is from the Henbury Craters in central Australia found in 1931.

My computer desk, on which is a brightly lit gaming PC and elaborate flight simulator peripherals. Above the desk are three shelves packed with dozens of Lego sets. Even more Lego sets are hints on the walls.

Tawny Frogmouths, rosellas, king parrots, & kookaburras are regular visitors. Saw a pair of wedge tailed eagles soaring over the paddock behind us yesterday.
About to mow.
My back yard. Photo is taken standing on a wide deck, half of which is covered by a pergola. Two sets of steps connect to the back of the deck, one leading up to a grassed terraced area and the other down to a grassed area and a retaining wall splits the levels. At the back of the yard is a large trampoline. Beyond the back fence is paddock that better resembles bush and scrubland. Inside the yard are a couple of young citrus trees bearing fruit, apple tree saplings, several pots of mint, a pot of spring onions and a pot of rosemary.

I served in the Army & have the Australian Defence Medal to prove it. So I would say; get in the bin, Dutton. You don’t speak for me or those I served with.

On a day that is entirely about paying respect the idea of not including Welcome to Country is abhorrent to me. Glad the RSL is pushing back.
The headline of an article on The Age online that reads Dutton says veterans don’t want Welcome to Country on Anzac Day. RSL branches say otherwise.
