Given the temperatures in Minnesota this week, we will only be able to enjoy the sweet smell of lilac blossoms for three days. But I will cherish those three days of glory and capture as much of that scent in my nose as possible!

Tonight at bedtime there was excitement in the form of a bat in the house. First a weird crinkle and thumping from the back room, then a blob comes at me followed by frantic stalking cats. This leads to 10 minutes of throwing open doors and flapping my flannel until it’s finally routed outside.

Duckspeak (from the book 1984) to quack like a duck (usually indicating one's delivery of "newspeak", delivered without any active thought from the speaker, sounding very much like nothing but noise, but very clearly fully in line with Party ideology). -As often the White House Press Secretary?

Wangari Maathai (Nobel Peace Prize 2004) was a Kenyan biologist, creator of the Green Belt Movement to restore African forests. Her work in spite of opposition by corrupt governments inspires us. She was threatened and jailed, but prevailed. For the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

I have to bribe Pepper with the soft blankie, which she loves to knead, to get her to sit in my lap for more than a minute. But ever so rarely she will settle down for a proper snuggle.

Wish I were in southern Florida only for this kind of adventure.
Yes, this is the lab that hosts “drag and tag,” shark tagging research with drag queens that raises money for Florida LGBTQ youth.

We could sure use your support, and you get an amazing adventure out of it!

I think we can all agree the vibes are *not* wonderful.

You know what always makes my day better? Getting a cute card in the mail from a friend.

I propose that we send valentines this year for vibe enhancement. Skype a Scientist has got *just* the pack.

Every one of these cards has a fact about the animal on the front, *and* an action people can take to protect that animal.

We’re looking at cute art.
We’re learning about cool bugs.
We’re caring for our wildlife.

What are you waiting for?? Get this year’s valentines here
