It’s exactly how Robert Moses operated. Including leveraging funds from wealthy donors!

Truly an “only in New York” question.

The French restaurant across the alley from me lost my business because they threw buckets of soapy water into the alley—which created ice floes in the winter and slippery hazards otherwise. They eventually closed.

Sorry! Mariners really want this and so do the fans. The HR jacket is pretty sweet.

Fascinating! I didn’t know that.

It’s ridiculously hard especially as they seem to be amping up for a round of blacklisting. But I keep reminding myself that trump and most of his policies are incredibly unpopular. The current regime cannot survive indefinitely.

Yes Hammett was a terser and tighter writer. The Thin Man is a pure delight and the film version is also nearly perfect. Since Humphrey Bogart played both Spade and Marlow the confusion is understandable!

Agree but Sam Spade is a Dasheill Hammett’s creation, not Chandler’s. Marlow and Spade do seem to come from the same place, though. Hammett’s writing is terser and more dialogue heavy, but he has some twisty plots as well.
