Really liked Predator: Badlands. And I think part of it may be because I love Star Trek: The Next Generation and this felt like a #film with Worf (Yautja are totally like Klingons in #PredatorBadlands) and Data. There's even an evil twin / Lore equivalent!

Me a couple weeks ago 🌄 At the Three Natural Bridges in Wulong Karst National Geology Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, China. This is at the Tianlong (Sky Dragon) limestone bridge, with Tianfu Posthouse in the background.

raid shelter that's been transformed into a teahouse, & next to that is a former air raid shelter that's been turned into a weekly farmers market. I love how these structures from a time of fear and sorrow have been repurposed into hubs of joy & community.

(More about their history:)

#Dinner at #Underground City #HotPot 地下之城火锅 a couple weeks ago! 🍻 This is another one of Chongqing's old air raid shelters, and it's *huge*; the #restaurant has 208 tables and is >500 meters long (a football field is about 100 meters)! And it's an underground #city indeed; next door is a former air

Accompanying my parents (who got comp tix because they’re a part of #Chicago ’s Yelp Elite #community ^^) to the opening night of Million Dollar Quartet Christmas at Marriott #Theatre, and now we’re spontaneously at the after-party with the cast (who were great! so talented) 🍷🧁

Wulong Karst National Geology Park, #China, is a place that seems like it came straight from my imagination. 🪄 (Seriously, when I read The Hobbit as a kid, I envisioned Rivendell nestled in a gorge just like this, with songs of merriment echoing off the canyon walls.) This is a view of

hang out and savor tea that costs 5 yuan (70 cents), play Chinese checkers, peruse all the different knick-knacks that have accumulated over the years, write a postcard to display on their shelves as a memento (of course I did this)... all amongst a gang of shop #cats who do as they please.

This is Junge Bookstore 军哥书屋 in Huangjueping Air Raid Shelter. It's owned by Jun (he loves to read and collect #books and retired from the #Chongqing Power Plant in 2018, then started to run this #bookstore, which he moved to this location in 2021), who takes care of the store with his wife. To me, one of the coolest things about #Chongqing, #China, are all the old underground air raid shelters that have been recently transformed into restaurants, shops, etc. thanks to a revitalization program. (The city was the wartime capital and was bombed by Japan for 6 years, 10 months, and 1 day.)

Just watched the first episode of Pluribus!! As expected, that was great. Horrifying too, omg. I see you tapping into your X-Files roots, Vince Gilligan!

of almost 300 participating artists)!

The exhibition's opening reception is tonight: 6-10 pm, 1389 N. Milwaukee, in the heart of Wicker Park. I'll be there. (As will, I expect, 300 Chicago artists. Every piece is just 10x10 inches, hence the ability to fit so many folks. It'll be a good time.)

Interrupting my China trip pics to say: My 2015 photos "Beyond the Sea" & "Honey[comb], I'm Home"—both shot on my iPhone 5s of course—have been selected to be exhibited in Jackson Junge Gallery's annual "Ten by Ten" art show, & they chose the former to be in the main promo graphic (out

Pet and fed #capybaras at the largest capybara café (my reaction: there’s more than one?) in Chongqing, #China. 🌱 Life is good. #Capybara House, where there are also other resident #animals like a fat duck and corgi (and, as you can see from my other pics, a little husky who wants to play).
