Wulong Karst National Geology Park, #China, is a place that seems like it came straight from my imagination. 🪄 (Seriously, when I read The Hobbit as a kid, I envisioned Rivendell nestled in a gorge just like this, with songs of merriment echoing off the canyon walls.) This is a view of

Tianfu Posthouse, originally built in 619 AD and rebuilt in 2005, which now has gifts and refreshments (you can even see the shop where I had a lemon tea): www.instagram.com/p/DQ7QIrbleMs And the weather was perfect for hiking this UNESCO World Heritage site.

#Dinner at #Underground City #HotPot 地下之城火锅 a couple weeks ago! 🍻 This is another one of Chongqing's old air raid shelters, and it's *huge*; the #restaurant has 208 tables and is >500 meters long (a football field is about 100 meters)! And it's an underground #city indeed; next door is a former air

To me, one of the coolest things about #Chongqing, #China, are all the old underground air raid shelters that have been recently transformed into restaurants, shops, etc. thanks to a revitalization program. (The city was the wartime capital and was bombed by Japan for 6 years, 10 months, and 1 day.)

The exhibition's opening reception is tonight: 6-10 pm, 1389 N. Milwaukee, in the heart of Wicker Park. I'll be there. (As will, I expect, 300 Chicago artists. Every piece is just 10x10 inches, hence the ability to fit so many folks. It'll be a good time.)

NEW from me: CO2 emissions in China have now been flat or falling for 18 months, the first time that energy demand growth at or above historical averages doesn't drive emissions up, thanks to the clean energy boom. 🧵👇
