Dozens of female prisons officers have been sacked for having sex with male inmates. At least 10 were convicted this year following affairs with prisoners. Never one to make a fuss of it but TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY and I’m doing it like Ferris Bueller’s day off. There have been Giacomettis and an Indian head massage and now a bubble bath and life is VERY GOOD.

After going to great lengths to keep my fussy calathea houseplant alive over the past four years, it finally died. I left the pot of earth outside. Five weeks later, two huge new leaves have sprouted from the pot I have completely ignored and it’s a living rebuke of my love and care, I tell you.
