Something, something, "protecting women and girls". Yes, bad people exist in every group. Yes, those bad people should be prosecuted, but don't pretend you have "legitimate concerns" when you are standing shoulder to shoulder with these fuckwits.

MASSIVE WIN: Home Office increases the time refugees have before being evicted from accommodation from 28 to 56 days. With refugee homelessness at a record high, this is huge.

Alongside so many, we've been calling on the Govt. to extend the move-on period for years.

The government plans to hold even more people in immigration detention centres, despite worsening conditions like: increasing levels of self-harm & suicidal ideation; barriers to legal support; & people being released into homelessness. Take action now.

With farm owners protesting today over the prospect of paying a highly discounted inheritence tax, I'm sure you've seen quotes about how they "feed the nation".

But nobody is talking about the migrant workers who actually pick the crops on horticulture farms, so here's a short thread about them.

#r4today already getting it wrong in its coverage from Turkey:

1) Turkey has never been "welcoming" to refugees. The EU paid it, a lot, to prevent people reaching its borders, and Turkey has been shown to repeatedly abuse them.

2) Refugees are not "illegal". Nothing about what they do is illegal.

In the late 90s & early 2000s we in the UK received (very roughly) 80,000 asylum applications per year.
Mainly people escaping Balkan wars.

Today in these “unprecedented” times of “invasion” by small boat… we receive pretty much the exact same numbers.

Had you been taken in?
I wouldn’t blame you.
