Back in 2022 we launched #PeopleMove to celebrate Refugee Week asking dozens of people who sought sanctuary in the UK to tell us about a special object they brought with them that connects them to home. Fast forward, we've told over 100 stories & held 2 exhibitions.

At 13 Evelyn was forced to leave school because she was Jewish. In 1943, Evelyn and her family were sent to Teresienstadt and later to Auschwitz.

Very important but utterly devastating story about the cruel realities of refugee policies on a family and a little boy's life.
A yr ago, I met Wissam, a child refugee with complex disabilities living in a rubbish dump in Calais. His Syrian family were trying to reach UK specialists.
There are no longer any safe routes for children like him.
A few days ago, he died after crossing the channel.

Every object tells a story. For Loujean it’s her Syrian grandfather’s watch, for Bernd it’s the hairbrush he carried in his trunk on the Kindertransport from Hamburg, for Rebecca it’s the stethoscope to reminds her she is still a doctor even though she had to flee Ukraine.
