Lots of new followers, so a quick intro: I'm the NYT Metro desk audience editor, so I share lots of Metro stories. I'm a big running geek and cover the NYC marathon for Metro. I'm a geek in general & follow lots of scientists/researchers. Also writers because I write fiction in my spare (lol) time.
Some of Manhattan's most iconic spots would be submerged, including parts of Chinatown, SoHo and the financial district. Several feet of water would pool in the theater district and areas near MSG. In the Bronx, Yankee Stadium would be nearly surrounded by water, up to 11 feet in places.

I know winter half-marathon training has started because it’s not even 7 p.m. and I’m ready for bed after today’s long run. My brain: “It’s dark out. Go to bed.” (Long run went great, but to find comparable runs in my Garmin history I had to go back to early 2020.)

Now I'm recalling the time in a writing critique group where one person's feedback was the story was unrealistic because police officers would never be in league with the mob.
In a workshop during my MFA, one of my peers criticized a story of mine because "poor people don't speak that well." 🙃
