This is an excellent point. They're trying to overwhelm us with a firehose of monkeyshit.

So, let's do it right back. Whatever you can do, do. Every bit helps. Protest if you can, scream at a townhall if you can, run for an elected office if you can.

But whatever you do, don't stop.
I think a lot of things are all simultaneously true right now:
1) we cannot confidently predict what will be effective
2) no one thing is going to be THE THING that makes all the difference
3) all of it matters in its own way

Some fights are worth having, no matter the odds. Leave teeth marks.
My take on effective vs ineffective tactics on boycotts, protests, etc: Maybe due to working with students, or living in conservative area, I'm reluctant to dismiss most political action as ineffective or performative because if it means something to that person then it means something.

DAILY DEMS DOING THE WORK, MAKING NOISE, AND FIGHTING BACK Day 23

The goal of this series is to spread the word about the DNC, and the reps and senators who are doing the work. So if you see a story or stories that resonate with you, please spread them on your own account.

Just finished this book last night. Wow. What a stunner! Very tough to read at times, especially when so much of our country seems to want to go back to those times, but so worth it. Off to buy some more @tananarivedue.bsky.social books!

The NAACP is re-mixing 1930s-era "don't buy where you can't work" campaigns to confront the neo-segregationists targeting DEI.

I think I’m finished with my Zentangle jeans project. I really like how they turned out. Hope the recipient likes the too!

Part 2, in which AOC explains that right-wing voters call their Congressional Representatives ALL THE TIME, and Democrats need to match that energy on a consistent basis.

Pedal to the metal, kittens.

We can do this.
Part 3, in which AOC explains that the calls we have been making to members of Congress this week are having an impact on Republicans and Democrats alike.

Don’t let up.

Keep making noise.

Slow but steady progress on my current Zentangle jeans project.

I'm tickled pink that at 59 years old, I'm stronger than I have ever been. This is 185 pounds! (And I clearly can do more weight, since I did these after 10 reps at 125, 8 reps at 145, and 6 reps at 165.)

I don't get to post finished pieces as often these days because I'm working at bigger scale than I used to. So, here's a work in progress. A pair of Zentangle jeans for a friend and fellow CZT. So fun to do, but they do take a long time!

Here's an updated version of yesterday's Zentangle post. I felt like the previous version was a little sparse, so added some smaller elements in the background.

Reminder: They're trying to demoralize you, and they're doing a great job of it. Part of resisting is making time for joy despite the attempts to make you feel this is not the time for it. Love your people. Dig the art that speaks to you. Go to the places where life flows into you. You deserve joy.

Finished my latest large-format (for Zentangle) piece. This is 7 x 9 on hot press watercolor paper. Background is Distress Ink, shading with Pablo watercolor pencils. Still debating whether to add more to the background. Will experiment with it digitally.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

I'm doing a lot of larger-format Zentangle pieces these days. I'm enjoying working on the same piece for more than a couple of days. I'm working on one now, but here's the last one I completed.

LIVE 👏 TO 👏 SEE 👏 THEM 👏 DIE
Do you know why a president would do all the most evil and heinous shit via Executive Order? Because his party can't easily make it law. And if they can't make it law, they can't make it last.

Don't let anyone make you feel like this is The End. Do not let them demoralize you. Live to see them die.

If you’re still on FB, you might want to check your activity logs to see if you’ve been forced to follow people you would never in a million years follow. Seems like it’s happening to lots of people.
