How did you build your writing practice/habit while in grad school? I get better as I write more frequently, but early-stage grad school comes with long stretches of reading & frantic note taking, not producing things for external consumption! #philsky #PhDsky

Saw an interesting thread from a well-known data sleuth yesterday. He was claiming that fraud was the primary reason for "replication crisis" and that it's very widespread in science. Now that's a view I never held myself which kinda explains why we diverge on many other matters of science too 1/N

My daughter, a history major student, works on a digital humanities project that digitizes seals. Your personal seal expresses something about you (identity, personality etc). So what to make of this medieval dick pick? The phallus is the main iconographic element. Fascinating.

Very good, indeed. Although Henrich et al. were clear in 2010: non-WEIRD isn’t a thing. But nonetheless…much of social science continues problematic essentialism of broad cross-sections of human cultural diversity.

We tried to make a similar point :

I am fascinated by this piece, about the (alleged) faking of data with studies on embodied cognition by Gino and Ariely.
It's really worthwhile reading this as it is a meditation on psychology as a discipline, and notably that if lots of research proves fake, nothing much changes. 1/
