A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

We either fund schools, healthcare, and the safety net now, or we spend even more on policing, jails, and prisons later.

The best way to prevent crime is by building thriving communities now.

A government ban on Hungary’s Pride parade backfired Saturday as over 100,000 people marched through Budapest, far more than usual

PM Viktor Orban warned people to stay away, threatening “clear legal consequences.” But the warnings only turned a modest event into a mass rally against his government

At Juno Beach I realized that the democratic values that I had taken for granted didn't just happen.
They were paid for at an immense cost of lives and sacrifice.
Would we be willing to pay the same sacrifice if the darkness descended again?
My reflection on June 6.

Post-recounts, the Liberals finish just 60 votes away from a majority government. A reminder that every vote matters.

(41 back in Nunavut + 12 back in Terra Nova + 4 back in Windsor + 3 votes to win each riding by 1)

“Mom, it’s really strange waking up and reading people’s comments bashing you online.”

I think sometimes people forget that public figures are real humans, with families who see and feel all of it too.

I saw a F🍁ck Carney sign in High River today. Just so I’m clear, we’re not even going to give him a chance?
Democracy is weird currently.

Carney commits to admitting his mistakes openly and to learning from them quickly.
That could be a *very* big change from his predecessor... (Or anyone in politics, really). If, of course, he actually follows through with it.

Breast cancer diagnoses rose by over 300% between 1973 and 1992.

Was there a breast cancer epidemic?!

NO.

Mammograms were implemented for screening in 1976.

This is also about autism.

It can feel strange voting when you already know the outcome in your riding, but your vote still matters. It sends a message that other perspectives exist and deserve to be considered.
