"As the cost of renewables keeps falling, the U.S. strategy may leave China poised to capitalize on the world’s growing appetite for not only cleaner but cheaper power."
This comparsion in the NYTimes today is pretty stark. China is racing ahead to be a high-tech exporter of 21st century technologies, while the US is doubling down on being a petro-state exporting the technologies of the 19th century: www.nytimes.com/inte...

Emissions are not distributed equally. Just 5% of power plants generate 75% of power sector emissions; 12% of people consume half the beef produced; 2% of aviation emissions come from the 0.003% who are (private jet users; etc.

What a great opportunity for targeted reductions!
Ultra-frequent flyers make up a tiny proportion of the UK population. Half of people in the UK will not step foot on a plane each year - while just 3% of people take more than six trips by plane a year. ✈️ 2/5

“The climate crisis isn’t going away. The demand for clean energy, carbon removal, climate adaptation and tech innovation will only grow, regardless of who sits in the White House. The question is whether the U.S. wants to lead this future or fall behind.”

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general.

If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

Worried about losing access to US federal data that may go off-line, or already is? You’re not alone—but duplication isn’t the answer.

Many ongoing efforts have already archived key datasets and many more are ongoing. Check out these existing resources and, if you can, support their work. 🧵

“While it is easy to focus on the candidates, the money, the message or the economy, increasingly it is the maps that determine the outcome."
A New York Times analysis of the nearly 6,000 congressional and state legislative elections in November shows just how few races were true races. Nearly all were dominated by an incumbent or played out in a district drawn to favor one party overwhelmingly.
In 2024 Elections, Most Races Were Over Before They Started
A New York Times analysis shows new maps stifled partisan competition for seats in the House of Representatives and state legislatures.

Late last night, Trump fired the independent inspectors general of at least 12 major federal agencies.

Inspectors general are tasked with rooting out fraud, abuse, and corruption.

Trump wants loyalists in these positions — a key tenant of Project 2025.
