People don't understand that you're just one bad experience away from being disabled, and it can happen to anyone. I know someone who got into an awful car accident in his late teens, he's quadriplegic now and needs caretakers to help care for him and get him in and out of his wheelchair everyday.

I know exactly the "looks" you're referring to, it's so irritating and can make vulnerable people with disabilities feel like they don't deserve their disability aids which isn't cool! I usually give people a grin and a little wave or a thumbs up if I catch them giving me "looks" quickly enough ;P
