Was jellybeantwits at the other place.

Mostly lurking.

Does something with telephone lines by day.
Sam Amidon again, but this time with his all star friends band at the Union Chapel.. It was more like being invited to watch them jam and mess around, particularly the piano accompaniments from Thomas Bartlett and Nico Muhly.

Anyone who has played Sim City would have known this wouldn't have worked unless you used the cheat code.

Public Service Broadcasting at the Barbican. A mix of old and new material, and realised I far more enjoy the ones with a bit of a groove and interesting samples vs the slower ones. The encore felt more like a group of school teachers at the end of year disco.

Maybe we just need to find our slightly older indiekids from the 00s community

Haha yes. There was an article in the FT today about the Windmill, so maybe I've been looking in the wrong place?

Was also chatting to a colleague with an 18 yr old daughter who is going to gigs at the George and in Camden to find her people. Maybe I'm just getting old? on.ft.com/4oCieq7

Trip back to Oxford to see Headphone Wasp's first gig. Turned out to be a reunion of lots of familiar faces from many years ago. It made me realise how much I miss a tight knit scene and when I would just go to random gigs and find people to chat to.

Finally made it to Cafe Oto, after looking at their listings for years. It was Utopia Strong who got me there, and it had everything I wanted, synths, a recorder, two types of bagpipes and a champion snooker player.

Continuing the theme of watching bands I should have seen decades ago, tonight Idlewild. All it took was an early show at a venue within walking distance. I really need to revisit the back catalogue.

Daði Freyr said that we were either going to have a good time or a bad time, but not medium time. Always fun and uplifting to watch. And love how he's created a surreal creative career out of going viral.

My tip is to go through the process to pretend to leave and they may offer to give you another year at the discounted rate.

No! Recovering from walking too much over the weekend. Did you go?

Went all the way to Paris to look at some bowls.

Glad to have provided a break from the terrible news generally (or maybe the news isn't so gloomy in the southern hemisphere?)

Love that this trip seems to be bookended by two very long boat rides at either end. It makes the 200 hour journey seem more comfortable!
