Nashville law-prof/dad trying to love all my neighbors.
Shouldn’t they just be calling him “Andrew”?

I love being surprised that we lost to Texas and still knowing that we’re going to a bowl game. #AnchorDown

I don’t know what to make of the fact that Spotify seems to really get me, especially when I ask for seasonal instrumental music.

1:52 left in the Vandy game.

I’ve been a Vandy fan for 28 years. I’ve never seen a tougher, smarter, more capable Commodores football team. #anchordown

September rain in Nashville.

It’s a lot of fun to sit in a fancy stadium and watch your team win the football game.

It’s hard to describe the weight of always having to fight to get your kid a fair shake in school. It’s even harder knowing that there are *so many* kids who must be written off because they don’t have the scariest possible dad. We’re failing in some important ways.

The pop ballads of the 1980s will eventually stand beside Shakespearean sonnets as high-water marks in English-language articulations of romantic love.

Tina Turner was crazy good at her job.

A question, friends: the exposed bass clarinet line in Steven’s Last Night in Town—is it the best use of the instrument ever or just the best use in a pop song?

This. A hallucinated case is much easier to detect than a misinterpreted case that made it into the memo you found in the system from 2018. Here’s the tell: when you pull the case to cite check it, it doesn’t exist.
I get requests to speak about how attorneys can properly use ChatGPT in their practices without getting sanctioned.

I honestly don't know what to say. I use ChatGPT as one of my research tools. I review every single source it finds. This really doesn't seem that hard. What were y'all doing before?
Finally, we’re getting some attorneys getting referred for discipline for using ChatGPT for legal research.

The attorneys in question, ofc, are counsel for the Alabama Department of Corrections.

If you’re a newish parent, you have well-meaning old folks constantly telling you to treasure the early years. I’m here to tell you that some things get better with age.

I always loved my kids, but every year they’re more interesting than they were the year before.

Nicole’s work has been a great public service and a good example of informative writing that benefits from a clear, fully human voice. I’ll miss reading the council meetings through her coverage, and I look forward to learning new things from her in the future. Thanks, @startleseasily.bsky.social!
Friends, it's time. After five years, I'm moving on from covering #MetroCouncilNash.

The July 15 meeting will be the last one I cover. It'll also probably be the last one I watch for some time.

I'll have more to say about this decision later, but for now, I want to thank some folks.

The stakes are too high for me to want you to fail electorally in a general election, but if you’re still pushing “send” on these, please know that I want you to get a bad parking spot and bump your toes and elbows on all available surfaces. Please just stop.

I wonder if Tennessee is the only place where both parties are so toxic that a squishy moderate party could win. Dollars to donuts (a full dozen), I think a party committed to Dolly Parton’s song lyrics would out perform the democrats in the Tennessee midterms AND pick up a GOP house seat or three.

Weird request: Does anyone know where I could get a ye-olde-style powdered wig that I could safely burn? I want to make a writing statement (about distracting formalism in legal writing), not a fashion statement.
