If you believe that you're ready, I would argue that you are not imagining hard enough.

For my part, we are not there yet.

[In case you are confused, this is protected political discussion. I am not advocating for or attempting to incite the armed overthrow of the government.]

Consider this: instead of having others "do something" that you read about and feel like they are coming to the rescue, do you (yes, YOU) feel personally ready to hold a gun and dis-life someone who is not posing an immediate threat to you?

Imagine if the Project 2025 faction were no longer thwarted by the incompetent rabbit holes of and unforced errors of Trump/Musk and the MAGA rank-and-file.

The very last thing we need is to create a valid justification for martial law. Think back to George W. Bush and the world immediately after September 11, 2001. It would be disastrous to trigger the Trump version of Cheney's shadow government assuming power.

To call for a military coup now to play into the hands of the sinister Trump puppetmasters behind Project 2025. Right now, their influence is heavily diluted by Trump's and Musk's innate incompetence, and we (the entire world) need that incompetence to continue.

The remedy of armed coup or revolt is only appropriate after all lawful and constitutionally-defined remedies have failed. Let's call it Step 1000. It's a deafening bell that can't be unrung. We are on Step 4. We have not given the lawful and constitutional remedies time to operate.

Everything with the Trump regime "feels" like an emergency to me, so I get the appeal of thinking about an extraordinary response, but the disputes between the executive and judicial branches are still at the level of district courts and emergency stays before substantive hearings.

Congress is passively failing to do its lawful duties, but there is nothing new about that. The key is the judiciary, which seems to be operating as it should. Judicial constraints on the actions of the executive are slower than we would like, which feels like an eternity right now.

Our government (all three branches) is functioning within the Constitution, albeit ineffectually and incompetently. The executive branch is acting in ways that are damaging to the country and that seem wildly illegal on their face, but it is still interacting with the other branches.

I have seen this in the social media feeds of some of my friends recently, and I feel that it (the meme, not my friends' posting of it) merits a response.

I don't think we are there yet, although for the first time in my life it feels like a live possibility. Why not, you ask?

It's good that there's a 25% tarriff on imported coffee now. This will incentivize people to purchase American coffee, grown in the New Jersey coffee forests

I'm looking for ways to support Colombia economically without benefiting the US government.
