I found it frustrating they ignored the fact that the majority of non naive T cells that show fetal enrichment are “cd4_ctla4” which I take as a weird designation for Tregs which we and others reported are highly enriched in fetal tissues

In a single yfv epitope we see a huge number of common alpha chains across clones which are generally those without insertions added (small cdr3s)

That is interesting - do they find public TCRs based on paired a/b with cdr3 that are known pairings? Hard to tell at first glance. They seem to look at alpha/beta separately? And it’s known fetal cells lack tdt so I’d imagine a fair amount of common pairings given the lack of insertions?

My question is how do we go from “this is clearly immoral and unethical and probably illegal” to actually doing something about it. The lesson from social media malfeasance is everyone makes a fuss, moves on, nothing happens and these assholes get richer

I’m not advocating his stance - just trying to see his point of view. I guess he would take the opinion that lots of people die for many reasons everyday and as a society it’s our job to assess how best to mitigate it without destroying freedoms? I’m sure the same thinking goes for car crashes?

I guess he’s a data stats guy and his take was that it was better to consider who was most at risk and to factor in other aspects of lockdowns that impacted the poorest parts of society. You can say that was the wrong analysis but I guess he sees his persecution as political, not scientific

I use overcast - but I wanted a link that most people could access… I don’t use Apple :)

Well put. It’s not about competition- it’s about collaboration

I’ve always wondered about how characters like Bhattacharya - who has credentials and is clearly smart - ended up sitting with the RFK Jrs of modern society. Here’s the story

In fact if you exclude the Tregs there are precious few cells in this dataset relative to adults that are classified as non-naive looking? Am I missing something?

Why don’t they just call them Tregs as we and others described 15-20 years ago?!

“Our study also unveils a widespread distribution of memory and activated T cells across various fetal organs, significantly challenging the long-held view of immune quiescence of fetal T cells.” Nope
