The thing to understand about fascism is that most people you know will be bought off. Bought with promises of peace and stability, bought with business opportunities or paid with actual cash. Most people aren't going to resist. Get used to it and get used to operating in that environment.

Is this how we get Trump Tower DC?
Thought experiment, how much of the White House could the president tear down before anyone in power did anything meaningful to stop it? Like if he just kept going?

It’s only going to get worse
“YOU hit HER.”

CHICAGO - Trump’s ICE goons ram into a passing car after snatching someone, then brutally drag the female driver of the car they hit out of her car with guns drawn and arrest her too. (Her brother says she’s a citizen)

Lawmakers taking every chance they can to make queer existence itself illegal. Hell, this is broad enough that a cis girl posting a picture of herself in jeans and a t-shirt could be categorized as “imitating… the other biological sex” and, therefore, pornographic.
to the surprise of no one, the “Anticorruption of Public Morals Act" also bans trans people from the internet in the state. calling trans and queer experiences "pornographic" has been part of the playbook for a long time

We're close to reaching a chilling moment; the first time in history where the single largest group of people arrested by ICE in the interior and held in detention are people with no criminal record. The gap is now down to fewer than 300 people.

So Trump proved to the American people that immigration is good. Wish would could have gotten here without setting people’s lives on fire.
Highest level of support since Gallup started asking this question a quarter century ago

Also, Trump is not "claiming the power" to do anything.

He is very clearly claiming the impunity to break the law.

The press is routinely blurring this distinction between power as legal right and power as impunity from legal consequences, but it matters.

Simpson's book was released under an imprint associated with the National Alliance, founded by Turner Diaries author William Luther Pierce.

Not sure how much more evidence we need that they don’t actually care about these kids, but keep piling it up. Maybe one day enough people will wake up to this fact.
Opponents of transgender rights have claimed not enough research exists on care for trans kids. “However, results from our exhaustive literature searches have led us to the opposite conclusion,” the report commissioned by Utah Republicans states.

Utah Republicans ignore study supporting gender-affirming care for trans youth. It's research they demanded
In 2023, the state legislature banned care for transgender youth “pending research.” The research is in — and inconvenient for Republicans.

When you bury the truth to preserve the narrative
The Texas State Comptroller reported in 2006 that the 1.4M unauthorized immigrants in TX contributed almost $18B to the gross state product and $1.58B in state revenue while costing the state about $1.16B in services used. #IRS

This was the first and the last time Texas conducted such a study. 🤔
A 2006 study found undocumented immigrants contribute more than they cost Texas. The state hasn’t updated it since.
A comptroller’s report found that deporting the estimated 1.4 million undocumented immigrants living in Texas in 2005 would have cost the state about $17.7 billion in gross domestic product.

Remember when Trump abused his power to stop funding for Ukraine and was impeached and Susan Collins was confident he’d learned his lesson? I think maybe he didn’t.

Trump hated TikTok (because China) until it helped him win an election (as even he acknowledges) and now he’s going to save it and take a victory lap. So he’ll have X, TikTok, Insta, and Facebook all working on his behalf. That’s a big difference between now and 2017.
