You have to keep giving money to avoid collapse and if there’s collapse you have to give more money. It’s called the free market.

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.
Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

If a 25 yo with a big social media footprint and the message “We deserve better leaders” is the equivalent of “a nuclear bomb”?

If that’s all it takes to derail your national party? One guy with a list?

Are you not concerned you’re making his point for him?

My standard metric for resistance is "Is it better for people to do X or for them to do nothing?"

I find that that clears away a lot of the sillier arguments that tend to pop up.

Right on. And the thing for me is, what I think are my best days as a writer don't generally produce the best writing when I look back at it. And some days when the writing feels like pulling the teeth out of an angry cheetah, I look back later and you'd never know it was a hard day at all.
Me on my best day as a writer: “I’m only getting started. I’m gonna put in the work and get better.”

Me on my worst day as a writer: “I’m only getting started. I’m gonna put in the work and get better.”

Put in the work. Don’t settle. Never quit.

Memo to journalists: There's a high likelihood the thing you are writing about does not "raise concerns" about something bad happening -- it is in fact the bad thing happening. Reevaluate your language and maybe your entire approach to the story. Tell the whole truth.

I actually wish the media would stop using "DEI" and "diversity hiring" and just get to the essence of the thing and ask:

"Are you saying that this crash was caused by desegregating the races?"

And see what happens.
REPORTER: Are you saying this crash was somehow was the result of diversity hiring?

A lot of the rich and powerful are obeying in advance. That doesn't mean the rest of us have to. Or rather that means that it's on us not to, and may we wither some of that wealth and power as we go.
