Rock Band: players learn instruments and play … wait, this is just starting a band, isn’t it.

It’d be hilarious if it weren’t so disastrous.

As a postscript to this diatribe, I am not in the market for a third bike, my two bikes are affordable dream garage stuff, but I won’t lie about being intrigued by a Chinese ADV bike. I could dip my toes into tall-rounderland without breaking the bank.

They assume they have them locked in. They’re releasing bikes for people like me. They’re offering those who left the hobby for fiscal reasons a way back in.

I’m here for it. It’s genuinely exciting.

We are looking at a hobby that’s increasing in average age, late fifties in the UK, and yet, all of a sudden, people are buying Triumph 400s and China starts releasing actually good bikes with a shit-tonne of features for very little money.

The future of hobby motorcycling is going to be ok.

Look at the CF Moto 800 MT. The ZXMoto 820RR-RS, etc., these are not commuter bikes for the cities of Asia. These are motorcycles for the western hobby market. Tall-Rounders and Supersports bikes are not for commuting in Indonesia or Malaysia.

China thinks the dying hobby has life left in it.

Yeah, the 765RS is pretty close to perfection. Plenty of power, light, agile, comfortable and with the best bits of a parts catalogue as standard.

And all washed and stuff. Chain lube and plug in the Optimate tomorrow.
