Went to UCF and graduated in Game Design. Game Designer and Graphic Novelist....in my greatest dreams. For now.
Hilarious reaction. But i'm all for this. We need to preserve all of game history that we can and acknowledging both the bad and the silver lining within the bad is important I say.
@somecallmejohnny.com Just wanted to thank you for this gloriously genuine reaction from the last Direct. I've been laughing my ass off ever since, and it legit made my day better

Pixar's films are still incredibly beautiful in ways only 3D animation can be. And i am to this day a huge gamer. Most of my favorites are 3D. Oh sure, we need 2D. We always will. But the gap between the two are shrinking and that's really cool. Plus 3D tools can help with illustration.
since this is going to become discourse, it's important to understand that 2d animation hasn't gone anywhere, and 3d animators- who are artists in their own right- didn't kill it.
3d barely gets greenlit anymore either, as execs chase tighter turnaround times.
resist the urge to blame 3d animation

Arkham Knight DID tone down the amount of Riddler content. But Knight was also, despite being pretty good, very underwhelming compared to City. And i also played that when it released. The campaign was not as tight, and the mechanics were a bit bloated. Also too much Bat-Tank.

(2/2)...essentially it isn't just the fact that there's 400+ Riddler trophies, riddles, and what not. And i like most of them, but each new gadget reminding you you now got more to find. Each bit of story progress, and the fact most side quests make the player wait to finish them? Yeah....

Earlier this week I finally went back to Arkham City after a number of years had passed, and I must say I am realizing how....potentially overwhelming the way the game paces the side quests can feel. It never bothered me because I've played the game since 2011.....(1/2)

Today I went to a Jaws screening, in 3D. And it was a great movie. The three leads were bursting with personality, the acting was solid, the cinematography was on point, i noticed all these little intricate details, and the soundtrack was phenomenal. No wonder it birthed the summer blockbuster!

I'd feel depressed if i did that deliberately personally. But you know, it's working for him and he's one of our industry's greats so hey! And he does have a point, while it's cool to keep up the gamer spirit, you're often going to find the best ideas by expanding your horizons.
Kojima plays “maybe one game a year” because games are time-consuming, and “what’s happening outside” is more important for him to put into his work

Saw Nobody 2. It was a ton of fun, writing wasn’t perfect but lot of good beats. Freaking RZA wielding a katana! Still can’t believe that. Also Christopher Lloyd is always a treat.

I saw the trailer for the SANDA anime! Beastars I wanted to love...but it ripped out my heart (the manga i mean, and i don't have faith in the final anime season). Nevertheless, I firmly believe Paru Itagaki can make great stories. Maybe the anime will prove Sanda is "worthy" of a bigger audience.

I don't know what precisely the issue is, but MAN I am paralyzed by my backlog. And that's including media I haven't yet purchased/discovered that I MIGHT in fact enjoy. I already have a few hundred books and a few hundred games. Not easy to decide which ones are most worthy.... (1/2)

I am firmly of the opinion that generative AI DOES have a future in recreational simulation. The reality being of course you still need actual artists to get the AI to spit out anything half decent. But imagine VR simulations with moment to moment image gen and real time ai chat speech…..(1/2)

There DO exist stories that have tried to include “furry” characters that weren’t just “bait” or “fetish material” but one of my biggest goals as a storyteller is to lean further into the massive potential of allegory and surrealism you could do with said characters.

I almost wonder it Oblivion’s Remaster has a bugged time clock. There is no way I’ve been playing it for 101 hours. Out of all the times i’ve played the original, around 80 hours in i’d have been near the end of Shivering Isles, and on this save i’m NOW doing the last Thieve’s Guild quest.

What i’m most baffled by is the almost complete removal of the custom font on menus on the Xbox version. I can’t imagine there was a memory or tech issue that wouldn’t allow for a custom font. Fonts are very small in file size. Although the menus are on Xbox were compacted quite well.

What’s weirded me out the most is that PC Morrowind almost seems to have slower stamina draining than on Xbox. i’m not failing as many actions this time.

I cannot go into detail yet, but a few weeks ago I was informed by a gentleman from Unreal Fest i’ve been talking to for about a month now that I GOT THE JOB. So excited to finally be a game dev after six years of stumbling after college. The process is taking time but man the possibilities…!
July 26, 2025 at 8:50 PM
So this is strange, I tried and failed to engage with Morrowind about 8 times in recent memory. But i cracked open the PC version, lowered the difficulty just a smidge…and I feel compelled to continue now.

I love manga, but i promise i’m trying to read more non manga so as to not make this worse, as someone who wants to make my own comics.

Absolutely, and news flash, they do this in ALL media; video games, manga, graphic novels, MUSIC, you name it!
The whole "the curtain is blue!" discourse has convinced half the population that artists have no themes or questions their work explores. People, this is not an English teacher conspiracy. Artists do include symbolism and subtext!
June 13, 2025 at 11:41 PM
I'd like to think I have far more patience when it comes to video games ideas vs the ideas I have for graphic novels. And not simply because once is less labor intensive. I do my best to ensure my story concepts have as far reaching themes as possible, but those can be pursued almost ENTIRELY solo.
June 7, 2025 at 11:30 PM
@ponett.dog To be honest, I'm *almost* totally convinced i'll be better off as indie game dev after working in the industry first. I made it to Unreal Fest this year and it was amazing. And I'd like to think no list of current industry grievances could convince me to just. Stop and give up hope.

#UnrealFest2025 was INCREDIBLE. I met so many new faces, ran into so many colleagues, and I got my feet wet with more Unreal Engine stuff, and I went to some cool presentations. I could not BELIEVE how many representatives from various game companies were there!

Man this is incredible! The original video was hilairous enough and this animatic made it funnier! Criminal lack of views on this.

I’m gonna be so tired Monday, but exciting things are happening! I stay near Maitland/Winter Park for a game jam over the weekend and then BAM right after, i work until Noon and then go to my hotel for Unreal Fest! First time I’ve ever been to a serious industry event.

It’s been a bit since i played it last, been distracted, but if things go well, Cyberpunk 2077 might end up on my favorite games list. On my second playthrough and i still gotta play Phantom Liberty. (I’m doing another New Vegas run and Oblivion remastered, lol)
