At a certain point, as life becomes more unliveable, their fascist project will be more about keeping Americans in than keeping anyone else out. They want to make sure there’s no way to escape. Please don’t use their incompetence and lack of depth to excuse their outright and intentional cruelty.

Don’t underestimate the maliciousness of this authoritarian regime. Making air flight unsafe keeps people grounded—they will be justifiably afraid to fly, stuck where they are, making it impossible to leave. “Impenetrable borders” and isolationism is about turning the country into a giant prison.
