Did Bluesky do some dumb update that makes reading any one feed practically impossible? When I click into an account, there's now a small frame at the bottom where the account posts can be scrolled, but the account banner and profile into is static.

Ok now. Let's see the rest of higher ed follow suit.
MIT rejects "compact" proposed by the Trump administration.
MIT prez wrote: it "would restrict freedom of expression and our independence as an institution" and "is inconsistent with our core belief that scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone."

Reading this while walking my dog in Los Angeles, in the dark, armed with only a Pixel 7 and bag of dog poo. Couldn't have felt safer.
Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. This is gonna be a major part for some people in this room. That's a war too. It's war from within"

1. The $20 billion taxpayer-funded rescue package for Argentina, announced last week by the Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, delivers an enormous windfall to hedge fund billionaire Rob Citrone.

Citrone has a longstanding personal and professional relationship with Bessent.

Not surprisingly but still unfortunately, the McNair program is under attack.

I was not a beneficiary of the program but have participated in it as a mentor and speaker, and I have seen how it positively impacts the lives of its students.

I’ve always been so proud to be at UCLA, not because of any nonsense from administration, but because its diversity is energetic, uncontained, explosive. When I meet my new students, I feel I know them, because I grew up in the same California as them. I think that’s what this admin hates.

New, from me:
It was a terrible week, one that inspired some truly awful takes. The worst was the effort by Bari Weiss and The Free Press to smear universities as "the biggest culprits" to blame American political violence, with faculty training "jihadis."

Here's an incredible list of projects by trans artists and creators! Find your next book, game, or artwork here!
I think, in light of all the rotten people out there spreading terf nonsense, today would be a good day to support trans creators.

Trans folk, please add your links to this thread for books or crafts or whatever you do!

If Donald Trump truly cared about crime, he wouldn't be taking an axe to community violence intervention programs with track records in making Chicago safer.

I was proud to meet with volunteers today who, regardless of the President, will continue to serve our communities.

This They Might Be Giants TONIGHT SHOW performance of "Birdhouse In Your Soul" from 1990 remains firmly lodged in my noggin thanks to the Tonight Show Band's full commitment and Doc Severinsen's incredible trumpeting... It took an already great song and made it transcendent.
