I have reached the point in my move where it appears that the only logical next step is to step outside to scream into the void.

This is what is needed. Bravo to the brave current and former CDC employees for speaking out and walking out.
BREAKING: Big moment as CDC staff stage a mass walkout.

They have lined the street outside its HQ to greet and salute the four top officials who have resigned in protest at RFK Jr’s attack on the agency’s science base.

ICYMI, the eye-popper in today's PPI: a 39% rise in wholesale fresh vegetable prices.

It's the largest month-on-month increase ever recorded in the summer (data to 1947), and one of the ten largest ever, regardless of season.

Veggie-flation strikes, with a warning for grocery prices
No matter what the official data shows, consumers "feel" inflation when grocery prices rise.

If I have to explain to you why it's a bad idea to use a machine that makes shit up 15-80% of the time AND destroys the environment AND contributes to rising fascism and genocide AND puts brilliant skillful creatives out of work by stealing their work, then we're already speaking different languages

My sister died suddenly. Her funeral is Monday. We just got 4 of her 7 kids — they came with nothing. I’m turning my garage and my dad’s basement into a home while grieving and planning 2 funerals.

This is survival. If you feel it, please help. Even a share matters.

I think it’s worth noting this piece generated the most unsubscribes I’ve seen in a while, and the newsletter version had the lowest open rate in many months. These horrors persist in part because too many people go to great pains to avoid them.

In this moment, the obvious choice is for Stephen Colbert to do a new hilarious show on PBS. Cancel Paramount/CBS and get a PBS Passport - so much less money anyway! (Older people might remember Mark Russell; he taught me singing your opinions is good, Reagan was bad & Iran Contra was…confusing).

I cannot stress enough how much of a Def Con 1 moment this is. Federal judges fear that the President of the United States will stand down security for judges in retaliation for adverse decisions.

This is such a huge story.
This should be seen as evidence of the crisis: federal judges fear that Trump will order U.S. Marshals to stand down on securing the safety of judges whose decision they don’t like. This is just devastating.

BREAKING: Rümeysa Öztürk has been granted bail by a federal court in Vermont.

With this ruling, she will be able to return to her Massachusetts community and continue her studies while the case proceeds.

She never should have been locked up for exercising her First Amendment rights.

I don't really care what the "political consequences" are of fighting for the proposition that *everyone* is entitled to due process before they are removed from the United States and sent to a Salvadoran prison.

It's not really a principle if you only adhere to it when it's politically expedient.

3/4. If we accept the idea that moving a person from one place to another undoes rights and disempowers the judiciary, we are endorsing the basic Nazism practice that enabled the killing of millions.
