There's nothing under PULP FICTION, no serious undercurrents. And I didn't find any of the important "statements" I had read about in the reviews, but it's got a crazy good humor. Tarantino has a flair for pop dialogue, and a flair for casting. He used wonderful people. (1994)

It's funny: when the Trump administration gets truly desperate, when they are flailing to meet their promises to lower prices, they just announce a bunch of old Lina Khan initiatives.
The keyword there is "announce." They're parroting economic justice concepts without the follow-through.
From me:
When in Doubt, Pretend to Be Lina Khan - The American Prospect
The Trump administration’s plans to lower prices are just Biden-era retreads. Unfortunately, they’re just plans, with no expected follow-through.

@goldwagnathan.bsky.social Nathan, I’ve really been pleased with your book recs; I’ve never been much for fantasy but the Chalion books and the Dinios Kol books have been all timers. Would you care to share other recs at some point?

3. Leadership is about doing what is necessary, not just what is popular. Read literally anything our founders wrote about virtue, and the inherent risks to a society based on democratic processes to sustain the rule of law to the extent that unvirtuous people gain power.

Julie Su, former acting Secretary of Labor, will join the Mamdani administration in NYC.

Ahead of her confirmation hearings in 2023, we looked into the corporate lobbying groups moving to sink Su, from Uber and Lyft to the National Restaurant Association. Featuring an appearance from "Dr. Evil."
Revealed: The Corporations Mobilizing to Defeat Biden's Labor Secretary Nominee
Uber, Lyft & the National Restaurant Association are desperately trying to kill the president's pro-worker pick to lead the Labor Department.

When will Dems realize that no one is buying them doing Ronald Reagan shtick lol
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.

Black immigrants make up 5.4% of the undocumented population in the U.S., but around 20% of immigrants facing removal. Race is a factor in immigration enforcement just as it's a factor in criminal justice—in fact, the two are related. Great piece by Naomi Bethune:

Black immigrants are more likely to be deported, in part because of their contact with the criminal justice system.

They embrace the plebiscitary president and then when someone criticizes, say, gerrymandering or overaggressive judicial review of Congress, it's all "it's a republic, not a democracy."
this is why i keep saying that the unitarians have embraced a vision of the plebiscitary president who acts as the sovereign embodiment of the people. it is the only way this notion of “accountability” makes sense.

One factor I've never covered before: Primary voters won't give a shit what liberal media taste-makers think. That'll be a shift even from the summer of 2024, when liberal columnists wringing their hands over Harris's anti-price gouging proposal was enough to get her to drop it.
