Good call out. I think what you're see is that Liberals focus on "the people" and the "disenfranchised" but liberals have often been unable to get past giving out symbolic gestures and moralizing to do any real work for "the people" and "disenfranchised". So you get fluff stories that do nada.

Absolutely! Only about 4% of therapists are black so black people have leaned on other non professional disciplines. I wonder if this has something to do with lack of understanding the value/cost of a professional therapist. A passion for helping people can get you taken advantage of.

I've heard this as well. I spend time volunteering in my community including providing mental health services. When I'm working though it's never for free. Folks have no idea the monetary cost to be an actual therapist.
