FWIW... my apple trees and new sugar maples couldn't care less about all this chestnut drama and my chestnut oaks are only now deigning to wake up and join all these other trees for spring.

The grafted scion wood and buds from one of my wild American chestnuts onto Chinese chestnut root stock look pretty good so far! /1

Chinese chestnut tree with bud grafts and a top cleft graft of American chestnut scion material. My first time grafting anything serious. Hopefully at least 1 will take!
The American Chestnut scion material is from an AC in my forest with cruddy bark from the blight and likely not many years left.
