Coding with #GeminiCLI takes me back... back to when I had to stay up late fixing sloppy intern code on Independence Day in the naughts...

FWIW... my apple trees and new sugar maples couldn't care less about all this chestnut drama and my chestnut oaks are only now deigning to wake up and join all these other trees for spring.

The grafted scion wood and buds from one of my wild American chestnuts onto Chinese chestnut root stock look pretty good so far! /1

All of last year's chestnuts wiped due to root rot, except maybe one that the blight got. 🧵

Chinese chestnut tree with bud grafts and a top cleft graft of American chestnut scion material. My first time grafting anything serious. Hopefully at least 1 will take!

The American Chestnut scion material is from an AC in my forest with cruddy bark from the blight and likely not many years left.

Happy First Contact Day! It’s increasingly difficult to imagine us living in Star Trek’s post-scarcity utopia, but it’s far from impossible. If we keep choosing kindness to each other and the planet, and placing our faith in science rather than superstition, we can make it to the final frontier.

Sitting in the lobby at my daughter's appointment today, laptop out, music playing on shuffle.

'Wicked Game', huh? Well played music player. Well played.

NEW: AI bots caused Wikipedia's bandwidth costs to increase by 50 percent last year, and are still growing exponentially. I wrote about its plan to fight back — and whether it will be enough. www.platformer.news/wikipedia-ai...

I feel obliged, just for today, because certainly it won't exist tomorrow, to create such a post as to fully, totally, completely, and in its entirety, fill the temporary 299 character limit without any other message, intonation, allusion (or illusion, for that matter), purpose, etc., and so forth.

Today is my last day at Amazon. I'll leave you with another thought from our dear friend Robert Frost, wrapping up "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening:"

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

@theatlantic.com please tell Jeff he can just send me a message on #Signal next time!

Great bag too! Thanks!

Books too. I crashed my Kindle this morning loading Les Miserables.
remember when TVs would just turn on and work and not ask for software updates? that was nice

I turned in my 2 week notice to Amazon.

I leave you with the immortal final lines of Robert Frost's "The road not taken:"

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Thanks for posting this.

I've seen individual salesmen sell on the order of 30 cars in a day, but it is usually at auctions, to other wholesale buyers (like resellers), or when you get specialty stock on the lot (like 200 delivery trucks).

4 dealerships selling 8600 cars in a week is absurd. 🧵
This is an interesting story! Deceptive practices by Tesla dealers, go figure!
Show me a car salesman that can sell 32 cars a day and I’ve got a bridge to sell you!

Forgot to post this yesterday but it's never too late! Happy #StPatricksDay!

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind blow at your back.
May the sun shine warmly on your face.
May the rains fall softly on your fields.
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hands.

Final pint or so of maple syrup for the year between 68 and 69 brix (a little high).
March 13, 2025 at 11:20 PM
This year's remaining maple syrup haul. 59-60 brix on the left and 64 brix on the right. Will finish to 66 brix later.
