This is a profound misunderstanding of corruption, which does not require an 'explicit' bribe. It is, quite simply, the illegitimate use of public authority to further one's private interest. This is why democracies have conflict of interest laws that prohibit actors from accepting high value gifts.
Corruption requires explict quid pro quo. It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. Accuracy and fairness matters. Regardless of what social media wants.

It was one month ago (tomorrow) that US Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that Trump admin needed to 'facilitate' return of K Abrego Garcia from prison in El Salvador.

There he sits.
So it’s Friday night and Rumeysa Ozturk is out on bail, Ras Baraka is in Homeland Security custody, and Stephen Miller is casually toying with suspending habeas corpus. Do I have that right?

Well said.
"Masked security forces captured an opposition leader in the coastal province of New Jersey as regime officials continue their months-long crack-down against pro-democracy elements in the embattled United States. The arrest comes as the regime issued calls for summary detentions without trial."

there’s no reason for ICE to have conducted this arrest, and to have conducted it masked, and then to have taken him to a location they won’t disclose, except to terrorize and demonstrate they act outside the law. Seizing the person’s like the core feature of tyranny!
US Attorney for NJ Alina Habba told Fox News that Newark Mayor Ras Baraka is being held in an undisclosed location. She refused to say where he is.
NEW: Chaos at the ICE detention centre in New Jersey.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka has been arrested by the DOJ after Members of Congress (apparently being shoved by agents) attempted to include him on a visit.

Baraka has opposed the facility, saying it opened without permits.

To say legacy media is not built for this moment is a gross understatement. The people destroying this country are being treated with respect.
NPR Morning Edition had Steve Bannon on yesterday, and PBS News Hour has Chris Rufo on right now. What the fuck is wrong with you??? What possible reason is there to platform these lying assholes???

Agree but also, food quality is higher in Europe than North America (and with recent changes to FDA, that's just going to go downhill)
“american food is uniformly lower quality than food in europe” is something said by someone who a) hasn’t eaten crappy food in Europe and b) seems unaware that the US sends billions in agricultural exports to europe!

(Quite aside from the actual story here)

It always makes me chuckle whenever I see a headline about "Manhattan-sized" anything.

Clearly they're trying to make it sound huge.

But Manhattan is smallest land county in the US.

It looks good for the Industrial carbon price, and for a type of carbon border adjustment mechanism in Canada.

What's less clear? Carney's stance on pipelines.

He talks about supporting both clean and conventional energy - so we'll have to see what he does while in office.

Let's hope econometrics means understanding that oil/gas are losing economic propositions, and to abandon pipeline ideas for better, cleaner, cheaper energy sources.
