June 14 is Trump’s birthday and his military parade in DC — but the biggest story of that day will be the actions we take everywhere else. Join our nationwide day of defiance to show that organized people power is stronger than Trump’s authoritarian aspirations: www.nokings.org?SQF_SOURCE=i...

Happy Easter to all who are celebrating today.

This season of renewal invites us all to believe in the triumph of light over darkness, life over death, love over hate.

In a time of militant Christian nationalism it can be hard for good people of faith to feel justified discussing their beliefs. But we need those voices more than ever.

Do not let the most hateful versions of faith flourish. #belovedcommunity #goodfriday
On Good Friday, Jesus was disappeared to silence his message
(RNS) — The solidarity that Jesus offered the vulnerable on the cross long ago calls Christians to stand up to oppression today.

Proud of this little act of resistance inspired by #seattletroublemakers and made with care in Seattle by an all-volunteer cast & crew. Big thanks to @alexwinter.com for the most excellent narration! And @laceyleavittgray.bsky.social for asking me to direct! 🙏 #teslaregretsyndrome #crewtopia

I love how clearly this is written — from a standpoint of information and mental preparation, not one of fear-mongering.
We have received many questions about Trump potentially invoking the Insurrection Act, which gives the president broad power to deploy the military within our country.

Lawmakers, organizers and everyday Americans should be ready to respond quickly and effectively if Trump takes this dangerous step.

And we protest today so it is safe to tell them hands off tomorrow.

Well, I guess that’s one way to reduce the number of contacts you receive from constituents. Senator Fetterman has eliminated the ability to leave a voicemail outside of office hours. I wonder if this means a real person will actually pick up if we call during the work day? 🤦🏻‍♀️

“When we look at Auschwitz we see the end… It's important to remember that the Holocaust actually did not start from gas chambers. This hatred gradually developed from words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanisation & escalating violence.”

Finishing my self-imposed February book list today:
Fahrenheit 451
Handmaid’s Tale/Testaments
Animal Farm
1984
Brave New World

Words and phrases leaping off the page in a very different way than when I first encountered them as a young adult, for certain.

The stories keep coming. Hard to see.

Eight employees managed the 32,000 acres of wildlife refuges, which draw hundreds of thousands of visitors.Any cuts would be detrimental to the team already juggling permits, manatee rescues, outreach, volunteer coordination and whatever else the day might bring.
These park rangers oversaw Florida’s only manatee refuge. Then they were fired.
The Trump administration’s sweeping cuts to the federal workforce are impacting the only national refuge created specifically for threatened manatees.
