In case anyone needs proof that Republicans aren't seriously negotiating to end the shutdown, here it is.

The proposed shutdown bill allows eight GOP senators whose phone logs were seized during Jack Smith’s investigation of the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, to sue the govt for up to $500,000 apiece. They never fail in their self-serving pettiness even in a crisis.

Chuck Schumer should have been ousted as Senate Minority Leader a long time ago. He has lost influence over the Democrats he's supposed to lead. Even his own minority whip, Dick Durbin, did not stand with him on today's Senate vote. We can no longer afford his weakness and incompetence.

None of these cowards are up for reelection in 2026. Two of them plan to leave the Senate when their current term is up.

I truly believe if Jeffries and Schumer won't stand fast and negotiate a better deal, and can't unite their own caucuses, they must immediately be replaced. They will wake up to a party transformed by anger and betrayal, and fed up with phony promises. Deliver or get out.
