My great-uncle loves telling the story about sneaking onto the train between Winnipeg and Winnipeg Beach. Some day soon I can do the same perfectly legally 🤣

Jokes aside, this would be a amazing. We need light rail in Manitoba. We need commuter trains. It IS viable.

An amazing piece of art to celebrate one of the crowing achievements in Winnipeg hockey.

I know there's a site online that tracks all the murals in the city, but I'd love to go out and photograph them all.

Something I always thought was missing from large sci-fi universes (Star Wars, Mass Effect, Halo, etc) was a serious look into that way colonialism would work across galactic lines or when butting up against other intelligent beings. The closest we got (in my view) is the Drell/Hanar in Mass Effect.

Canada is poised to join the data centre boom. But as such projects face greater scrutiny around the world, there is little debate here about what this will mean for the country’s water.

I’m so happy to be writing sci-fi again. There’s something about it that scratches a particular itch in my brain.

Case in point, when I explain the Arachni come from colony of interconnected starships called the Weaved Hegemony, with next to no gravity, my brain goes “Hell yeah, more.”

Current WIP is a space pirate adventure (golden age of piracy in space, with climate fiction elements) and had to think up an alien species that evolved to work well in zero-g environments. Ultimately settled on alien spiders. Oh what fun world-building this will make for 🤩

Remember, chasing your dreams is a radical act. Writing books and making art are expressions of optimism and faith in human nature. Conceiving of better worlds makes them possible.

Saw a report by CBC that Canadians are focused on buying books written by Canadian authors. Well how about a climate fiction and cyberpunk story set IN Canada, written by a Canadian?

Interested? Check out my novel BOUNTY! Sequel coming soon 👀

Back to the query mines with a revised version of A House of Wolves. Streamlined the narrative, cut a storyline, and added a new chapter that my fiancée absolutely adored.

Keep your fingers crossed for me y'all!!

Every once in a while I pop in to Amazon to check on BOUNTY, and today I learned there's only one copy left!? What!? They JUST got it restocked...wild.

Seems my fellow canucks love a sci-fi story set in their own backyard. Who knew!

Zan’s supervisor tossed the glass square onto their rusting desk. A glass-rendered construct of a silver ticket hovered in the air, text shimmering. Zan held their breath as they re-read it until they were sure their credentials were correct.

I tell my friends I love them all the time and don't guard my emotions, I've teared up recording the show even if it's just about the computer because I give a shit about the work and how people are treated. You don't have to hide how you feel and those who try to make you stop are weak
the complete embrace of nihilism and the rejection of being genuine is the greatest danger to humanity right now

🪐 Speaking of which, I have to say Bounty from @jasonpchajek.bsky.social has one of the best opening lines I’ve seen. (No, I’m not telling; go check it out for yourself.) never did get the hang of pronouncing his name, though. The “Pch” combination isn’t among my known consonant combinations.

Landed in Vancouver and was sent this.

I always have to pinch myself when this happens because I grew up reading the @winnipegfreepress.com

And speaking of…if any publishers want a story where a “retired” outlaw robs a magic professor of a powerful magical artifact…drop me a line. #BookSky💙📚
