When I started the Canadian Privacy Library in 2024, I had no idea how controversial the project would be with some of the powerful BC public post-secondary institutions I requested from. I became afraid to be curious. Today I faced my fear of filing Freedom of Information requests. Let's see.

I'm incredibly proud of the growth in Zero Textbook Cost adoption at BCIT since we launched our BCcampus-sponsored project. We've held faculty events at all 5 campuses, student events at the Burnaby Campus Library, a survey of 150 ZTC instructors with a 20% response rate, and video interviews.

Update: The policy no longer contains this language.
My employer's Acceptable Use of Information Technology policy says "Users should have no expectation of privacy regarding any information stored on or transmitted using Institute assets".

Privacy is a right. I am working to get the policy changed.
