In 2016, @wnep.bsky.social did a piece on @dunkindonutscoffee.bsky.social arson in Pa. coal country that went viral. Folks laughed that locals were upset about a chain store. One local doesn’t want to be remembered as a joke. My @inquirer.com story. www.inquirer.com/news/pennsyl...
He became a viral ‘joke’ when a local Dunkin’ closed. He doesn’t want to be remembered for it.
Smith said the video is a little painful to watch because 2016 was a difficult time in his life.

Today is Survivors of Suicide Loss day, for everyone left behind. I processed the death of my beast friend mostly by writing a lot. It wasn’t always healthy. This piece for The Alpinist took about 8 years.

Men, for real, just get a dog. Take it for walks.

Go to parks, breweries, etc. Life will find a way.

Last night I was at a bar in NYC and “What a fool Believes” came on.

Five Black women walked in and lost their minds: hand’s up, hips moving, in utter joy.

I felt joy.

When it was over I asked them if Michael McDonald was the most soulful white dude.

“Oh, he’s the one.”

The late naturalist’s remote lifestyle has captivated Americans—myself included—for decades. Would a visit to his off-grid wilderness shack live up to its beloved image?

My favorite @marcmaron.bsky.social was with an Onion editor who had been suicidal. I can't remember his name, but it was profound.
Marc Maron, the comedian, actor and former podcaster, discussed his decision to bring “WTF” to a close after 16 years and interviewing its final guest, Barack Obama. “It’s hard to find a way through, in terms of hope,” Maron told us in an interview. “So, I went to the hope guy.” nyti.ms/4n3ieOG
