trying to figure out what I'm even doing here. this'll probably be a mix of plants, cats, bikes, and music. dervish-y things too from time to time.

on Mastodon too jasonfbennett@triangletoot.party, though there's not much going on over there.
Came in to say "TIL this isn't a Jim O'Rourke composition". Side effect of the MP3 era of music exploration.

yeah, easy to rationalize not hanging out with "bad opinion" family members when you live cross-continent. "we'd look past our differences if we were nearby." the existential questions of "who am I living with" and "what am I living for" are louder now. careful to which train you hitch your wagon.

Thanks for posting this - I don't know it, though I love Wyatt and Thorn. It immediately made me think of Calexico's tribute. youtu.be/SU-388Ey0OI?...

yeah, I had a lot of angry thoughts too when I read that WSJ article last month. wild how it matches the "what am I even reading" vibe of 2025 political news.

wankers all the way down. once they gave the timeline - she posted this weeks ago but was just banned this week - I realized she was referencing that article that asserted everyone thought of Johnny Cash as "deeply uncool." www.wsj.com/arts-culture...
Essay | It’s Finally Time to Give Johnny Cash His Due
Compared to Dylan and Springsteen, the country-music legend can seem deeply uncool. It took years for me to appreciate his profound, plainspoken strength.

I saw something the last couple of days that Aldi's was doing a similar extra-low Thanksgiving meal bundle. $40 instead of $20, but it feeds 10(!)

You're being a good Carolinian if you ask anyone you meet from NC or neighboring states where they're from and try to find a friend or relative in common.

I think with the current threads of media malpractice, we can also start to trace more clearly the media's growing conservatism 20+ years ago. People keep raising problems of ahistorical incompetence, but there's a noticeable antagonism now to progressive ideas.
