@aoc.bsky.social, any insight as to why dems think doing the same thing as every previous year is the bold and brave thing to do at the SOTU?
yeah it’s really not
Jeffries sends a letter to Democrats saying "The decision to attend the Joint Session is a personal one and we understand that members will come to different conclusions. However, it is important to have a strong, determined and dignified Democratic presence in the chamber."

Trumps feefees were hurt by both France and the UK correcting him in front of the press.

So he did what any bully does - found someone smaller to punch down at.

That's what this was about today. Removing the shame of being corrected by greater men than him.

How small.

I'm considering starting a change.org petition where the signers pledge not to donate one cent to Democrats until:
1. Super delegates are abolished.
2. Seniority rules are revoked wholesale.
3. Dark money and larger donors are banned from primaries.

We’re already living in the world cyberneticians feared: feedback loops too fast for us to critically process.

The new epistemic battleground isn’t truth vs. falsehood; it’s statistical plausibility vs. interpretative meaning.

We need publicly owned systems on the internet. Publicly owned alternatives. I'm not content with my only option to post my work to youtube, where I have to code my words in what is the internet's equivalent to cockney rhyming slang to not upset the machine in charge. It's absurd.

Stargate is a tacit acknowledgment that the real money in AI is in infrastructure, not in software.
Economies of scale don't work on neural nets, but they still work great in data centers and chip manufacturing.

Thinking more about conversations with @benjaminjriley.bsky.social , I think a big reason why people are being duped by AI is how we've conditioned users on computers for the past 40 years.

Kid Rock is aghast, AGHAST I SAY, at Michelle Obama having the temerity to not show up to Trump's inauguration!

How dare she not respect the incoming incoming administration! Afterall, we all know that Trump...oh wait nevermind.

Nothing makes me cringe harder than hearing a data scientist say, "One of the things I love about neural networks is that I can use them for anything that's unstructured since they mimic the human brain."

Just read a designer on linkedin claiming that he replaced 12 engineers and 12 months worth of work with just himself and AI working over less than 30 days.

How does he know how much was involved? He asked the LLM, and it told him!

Folks, this is a high level of malpractice.

Hypothetical - Steve Bannon and Charlie Kirk come willing to band together with the Democrats to campaign against oligarchy in the US. This will be the only issue they will work on with you. Let's assume the success rate is high that it works to put in significant reforms.

... Do you do it?

I am still appalled at how everyone thinks Dark Mode has benefits when a)all of the research shows it has none, and b) even the original researcher in the 80s. said light mode only caused eye strain because of CRT technology.

If the kind of user research that you do can be performed by an AI, then the kind of research you do wasn't worth doing in the first place.

I'm disturbed by designers who use AI to do everything for them when it comes to research and it's frankly unethical.

When I find fascinating about open AI becoming a for-profit and still claiming to benefit humanity, Is that there was no reason why they simply couldn't become a public good company like Blue Sky. And yet they still chose to go fulll for-profit.

Can you be house speaker and thus in line for the presidency if you weren't born in this country?

I feel like if you aren't eligible for the presidency, then you can't become house speaker.

I think gestures have gotten way out of hand in a lot of applications and OS's. But if you ever ask someone who's struggling with a gesture or has a misstap because of a gesture, They will tell you it's their fault.
