I plan on going to vet school in the future and to pursue a career in animal care. I think although the knowledge that we have learned in the class is based on humans, you could apply the same principles towards animals with a balanced diet. I think that this could help me inform my clients. #beh353

I am reposting this because it is always good to spread awareness about nutrition for children. Nutrition for children is extremely important because they are developing, and it should be recognized for parents to help their kids be healthier. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I am reposting this because it shows a healthy meal that is not ultra processed. This could also be a oatmeal that is ultraprocessed, as it can be hard to tell based off of only the looks of a food. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

When reading Tom's story I changed my perspective on different diet plans for losing weight. Toms story shows how you dont need to eat perfectly healthy for weight loss. It is important to remember that any amount of change can be for the better. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I reposted this post because it shows that although obesity is a very prevalent issue in humans all over the united states, it can also affect animals in the same ways that humans suffer from obesity. Overall, I think its important to see that not just humans are suffering from obesity. #beh353
Pet Diabetes Month is celebrated in November. Minimize the risk of diabetes in your pets through dietary means. Specific recommendations can be made to address the potential impact of different food types on insulin production and weight management. #PetDiabetesMonth

One fact that sticks with me is that 1/20 americans have a BMI above 40. This sticks out to me because I have always heard that obesity is increasing by a large amount, but when looking at the actual BMI numbers its easy to see how much worse it is than I thought.

I chose the unhealthy diets of friends and family barrier. In my experience it is very hard to try to eat healthier and also have fun while eating with others. My family may make things that are not typically healthy, but I have to eat it since it would be rude otherwise. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I found an article about Creatine! www.bbc.com/news/article...
The article states that creatine has been shown by many studies to help with energy and memory, even outside of the gym where most people use this supplement. I think this is very interesting and I would like to learn more. #beh353

I looked into the keto diet, which is a low carb high fat and moderate protein diet. Some things I found interesting is that it can cause heavy weight loss for the short term, but after a while it can cause complications with obesity and higher saturated fats. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

One thing that I eat sometimes that could be more nutrient dense would be McDonalds. For the burger, I would make it more nutrient dense by using a leaner beef for the burger, adding more vegetables, and using a whole grain bun. This would all contribute to a healthier meal. #beh353 @beh353

I think that this is so important to remember, because lots of people think that a specific diet is going to save them or make them instantly healthy. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
We love to give diets a name; people love to create communities around them. People form factions to advocate for and against them. Quite often, this does more to harm than help.

To start off my day I ate some grapes and some leftover chicken from dinner last night. Then I did not eat any lunch for this day. Then for dinner I ate some chicken wings. I was suprised when looking back on this because I realized that there were no real carbs other than the grapes! #beh353

I wonder if there will ever be a limit to how much portion sizes will keep growing???
We really need to focus on portions and not single foods or ingredients.
Portions - in restaurants, bakeries, grocers - are too large.
We will eat the plate.
Yet can be satisfied with less is less becomes the normalized option.
I found this interesting because instead of being wary of certain ingredients, it's crucial to focus on broad diet habits. The key factors are caution, range, & rational choices. I like that healthy eating, portion control, and whole foods are prioritized over publicity. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One thing that stood out to me was how important it is to read multiple studies on the same topic. This would be important because there are many studies that cherry pick their statistics. I found the example in the reading interesting about creatine increasing testosterone!
