I have had laughing gas once, before surgery when I was nine. I went from anxious but calm and in control of myself to crying hysterically and trying to fight my way off the bed. That stuff is Not My Friend.

"But that's clearly NOT TRUE, because that was amazing! I've never seen anything like that! In any job, I think it's possible to be exceptionally skilled!" And oh, he was so pleased. He lit right up. I felt so successful that I'd managed to tell him something I really think is so important.

I speak Japanese well, but I am not always as succinct or clear with complicated concepts as I'd like to be. But I managed, somehow to say, "you know, they say jobs like this, people who don't know anything can do it..." He gave me a cheerful nod, and I very hastily continued...

I'm a tour guide in Japan. I have watched a lot of very experienced men and women very efficiently count out large amounts of tickets for me. But one day I had this very old guy, and he just... almost ruffled through the tickets, but in such a way that he was clearly also counting them.

Even then, I don't exactly see many cops around, you know? So I see a cop and I go "is that a gun?? Like, a real -- do our cops do that?? Is that allowed??" You'd think I'd remember by now, but I do not.

In Australia that is illegal. Also there are only two deadly types of spiders in Australia, same as America.

Yeah it looks amazing and I genuinely want one, but seeing "gun. also gun. bag perfect size for put gun in. gun." is a bit..... startling.
