This is why peoples’ reactions to Black folks grouping together to talk amongst ourselves (#blacksky) should be noted. They’ve been mad about the exact same things for 300 years, AT LEAST.
After the revolt, New York passed several slave codes. One of them made it illegal for black people to loiter. The idea was that black people hanging out and talking could lead to conspiring. That’s not even what I’m writing about but whew. Anyway.
