I don’t have any disability that requires that I use alt-text to describe images, but I still use it to understand pictures of people I don’t know or jokes I don’t understand. Alt-text is useful for so much. Just put it on your pictures. Please.

WTF? I come online to witness my friend being HARASSED for asking their followers to use alt text??

Well I have news:

Alt text is very useful to me, a human w/ medical trauma that causes lifelong visibility issues; it makes me feel included/welcome when I see people using it on the timeline.

A large number of people have spent the last few days screaming at me about how alt text is too hard, that they don't need to do it, how it's unnecessary and rude to expect, and I'm noticing some patterns and similarities in their lacking-alt-text-art, but elaborating further would be.... unkind.
