The endless pre-budget talk and ‘what the govt can do’ Would be nice to hear a bit more about what the private sector can do.

Traitors finale! Yes, I know, bit late. But had any of them read Machiavelli, understood the prisoners dilemma, grasped ideas of probability developed by Cardano, Pascal, Fermat et al or managed the whips office of a major political party? I think not!

Watched Woody Allen’s A Rainy Day Day in New York. Liked Timothy Chalomet’s piss take impression of Allen. Best line was:
Film star: ‘I can take you to the south of France’
Young female: ‘the WHERE of WHAT?!’

I want no/minimal curation/filters thank you @bsky.app .
This is a very bad idea @bsky.app it’s going to turn a more positive platform into a negative one. That’s the reason many are on this platform as a refuge.
“As users ‘dislike’ posts, the system will learn what sort of content they want to see less of. This will help to inform more than just how content is ranked in feeds, but also reply rankings.”

Personally, the best parts of bsky for me are the lack of algorithmic intrusion (chronological following feed if you choose that) and ample blocking options.

In a (parliamentary) democracy the prime minister is essentially the head of state. Why do we persist with a bloodline monarchy? (Or even think a ‘head of state’/president/monarchy (aka the gangsta family that over centuries has by hook and by crook risen to the top) is necessary?)

The ‘basic point’ being what?
‘However, Farage said he understood “the basic point” of what she was saying but “the way she put it, the way she worded it was wrong”.’
Of course it was racist!

In wake of Betfred founder’s comments about possible hike in tax on gambling, I’d welcome some explainer on current taxation. @danneidle.bsky.social ? For eg, who pays what and how much?
