Right. The problem with PP is 10% bad shooting luck and 90% lack of chances. Being the left-most team on this graph is bad.

Yeah, that’s gross. Granted, these models always undersell the Caps’ PP (because there’s a specific thing they’ve done for the better part of two decades that isn’t a quality chance for most teams but is for them), but there’s nothing to like here.

Oh, and if this chart isn't as clear as it is in my head, the arrow for each player goes from last season to this one.

Oh, and if this chart isn't as clear as it is in my head, the arrow for each player goes from last season to this one.
To me, the guys you're really looking at are McMichael, Leonard, Beauvillier, and to a slightly lesser extent Dowd and Frank. Having 1/3 of your top-nine shooting well under 10% is no bueno. (Oh, also Hendrix Lapierre has not had a drop in S%... because he hasn't scored in his last 58 NHL games).
