Right. The problem with PP is 10% bad shooting luck and 90% lack of chances. Being the left-most team on this graph is bad.

Yeah, that’s gross. Granted, these models always undersell the Caps’ PP (because there’s a specific thing they’ve done for the better part of two decades that isn’t a quality chance for most teams but is for them), but there’s nothing to like here.

To me, the guys you're really looking at are McMichael, Leonard, Beauvillier, and to a slightly lesser extent Dowd and Frank. Having 1/3 of your top-nine shooting well under 10% is no bueno. (Oh, also Hendrix Lapierre has not had a drop in S%... because he hasn't scored in his last 58 NHL games).
