Teacher Red has been working on these slides! He made them easy to understand, so that people who usually struggle with grammar will get it, too. He's such a patient guy, don't you think?
Btw, that's the emoji Japanese people use for Red 🌭 they call him マスタード mustard

Did you know that the skeleton monster who teaches Japanese grammar at Japanese with Skele is Red?

Don't make him angry by not understanding the difference between the particles は (wa) and が (ga). Take one of his lessons or (better) get the book Reading Japanese for Beginners 😇

Talking about Tanabata - and wishing on the stars
What would Sans and Papyrus wish for? I am thinking to make a podcast episode/video about their wishes. Please share your ideas (in English or Japanese)!

Meaning/translation of what Sans and Papyrus say below

Most of Japan has entered the rainy season besides Hokkaido which does not have a rainy season

Here's a podcast episode for important vocabulary:

Talking about the reason why kanji still exist.

I still gotta record that "all about kanji" episode.

What's your favorite kanji?

Mine is 金. Its meaning is money, gold, metal, Friday, and testicles. Such a versatile kanji! I gotta make an extra episode just for 金 😆

So, here's my book - you can get it on any amazon marketplace!

Also, here's my irl bluesky sensei account which I created recently. Not sure if I will keep posting here - having to manage several accounts is not easy. I'd be happy if you follow me there too:

Also yeah, my book is published 🎉🎉🎉 in case you want it, you know, lemme know and I'll give you the link.

Want to extend your grammar and vocabulary while reading Japanese? Then, that's your book! You need to be able to read hiragana and katakana, though. Everything else is explained in the book!

I am kind of torn. Like, I love sharing my Japanese knowledge here with you. But I also got my irl Japanese teaching account. Posting on both sides is a little strenuous because I'd have to make the double amount of posts. Also, I feel sad that here I can't simply show my book to you. どうしよう

I am about to publish my reading book for beginners!!! Anyone who wants it, shoot me a line, and I'll provide the link.
The food boobs are for attention. The book itself is sfw. It does, however, have a "Love in Japan" section, including LGBT information.
And food ofc, lots of food. And two stories.

Strawberry season goes into the next stage. Strawberry hunting いちご狩(が)り ichigo gari.

Which one(s) would you choose?

Look at all those かっこいい (kakkoii, cool) chocolate packages! Christmas is over, so the next "Western" thing to celebrate in Japan is Valentine's Day. バレンタイン
In general, on this day, guys get chocolate or chocolate cookies/cakes (bought or self-made). One month later, there's a present return day.

Had too much delicious but unhealthy food during the holidays?

Then eat some 七草粥(ななくさがゆ, nanakusa gayu) seven herb rice porridge. It's traditionally eaten on the seventh of January.

It's こたつ (kotatsu) time!

A Komatsu is a low table with a heating element. In winter, you sit there, your legs beneath a thick blanket and warming yourself up while it's cold outside (the kotatsu).

Also, please read the ALT text. There's some relevant information about the pictures 🎍. This 絵文字 (e-moji picture sign) is another Japanese New Year decoration called 門松 kadomatsu, which is placed in front of doors and entrances, especially for shops and companies.

The short version is あけおめ ake ome, the first two syllables of each word.

I went for 初詣(はつもうで) hatsu-moude, the first 初 shrine/temple visit 詣 of the new year.

There are so many things about the Japanese new year! Might record a podcast.

Hope you have a great 2025! I'll gladly help your Japanese!

明(あ)けましておめでとうございます
Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu
A happy new year!
The 明け means bright/clear and has the same pronunciation (ake) as "open" 開け. A bright new year opens!
Omedetou gozaimasu means that something is worth celebrating (in a very polite way)

Today's recap twitch stream will be later than usual. I have something important to do and will stream after I am back. I guess around 3-4 hours later.

Maybe a chance for those who usually can't join?

In the meantime, guess who those cookies are XD

Fruits are a very frequent way of expressing one's gratitude. That's a present that arrived yesterday.
昨日(きのう)、この果物(くだもの)の箱(はこ)が届(とど)きました✨
Kinou, kono kudamono no hako ga todokimasihita.
This fruit box arrived yesterday.

Looking forward to spending some Japanese lesson time with ya in ~40 minutes.

Today, I am working on a little kanji video course for intermediate students. These are my お供(とも) otomo, companions:
緑茶(りょくちゃ ryokucha) Japanese green tea and シュトーレン German stollen (pronounced shutooren in Japanese)

What do you like to eat as a snack when working?
December 11, 2024 at 12:33 AM
Also, I got myself Stardew Valley. Am thinking of playing it in Japanese and doing a stream where I can read the dialogs and explain grammar and vocabulary.
After hearing me say かぶ kabu for the 100th time, you will know that かぶ kabu means turnip(and any other crop/animal/tool, etc.)
Interested?

If you've watched my twitch stream/vod, please let me know if it was helpful to you 😊

Also, see you at the same time today! I'll answer questions/do a short review of yesterday's lesson, adding vocabulary. Maybe I'll go over some more greetings and polite phrases.

Oyasumi! Ohayou!
おやすみ! おはよう!
November 28, 2024 at 1:44 PM
Finally, it is 紅葉(もみじ momiji) time. The kanji are
紅 red and 葉 leaf
The same kanji combination could also be pronounced こうよう kouyou.
The meaning of both momiji and kouyou is similar. It refers to the fall foliage. Momiji, however, mainly means the nice red maple leaves.

Yo guys, I decided to come to Bluesky! As a housewarming gift, I'll write your name in Japanese.

The only thing you need to do is to write the name you want and in case the pronuciation is not clear, please also give me hints on how to pronounce it.
The reason: in Japanese,
