In 2012, MP Erin O'Toole and Senator Romeo Dallaire held the first Lt. Col. Sam Sharpe Veterans Mental Health breakfast. In 2018, a bronze plaque that included the likeness of Sharpe, made by sculptor Tyler Briley, was unveiled in the Centre Block of Parliament.

Thank you. My grandfather (Army, WW1), father (Merchant Marines & Navy, WW2) and, uncle (Army, WW2) served and never received benefits or recognition as Métis veterans were not recognized in Canada until 2018.

To the degree there are real military threats, we should be improving diplomatic & international law capacities. Weapons races do not end well. And let's explore how investing in nonviolent defence capacities can help.
