Together with my coauthor, Jason Link, we cover not only why EBM is necessary, but also how it can be applied. This book aims to contribute to the development and implementation of EBM, refute myths, and encourage action 🌊⚖️

I do always wonder about this kind of thing. Sometimes when you follow the money, the rabbit hole is wild! Thanks for sharing this tidbit.
3/4 It is not told from a neutral perspective (like a documentary). It's funded by lobbyists with an agenda. I.e., Ocean is partly funded by Ocean Capital 14, a venture capital group who invests in aquaculture (a competitor to wildcaught fisheries). That's fine, most people have an agenda #OceanChat

Exactly, and indigenous knowledge and say is so important. Telling people who heavily rely on the ocean for protein to simply give up fishing, or ignoring their knowledge, experience, and participation in a program is NOT the way to help the problem. #OceanChat
Managing social-ecological systems is complex and requires participation from all stakeholders. Forced top-down approaches tend to be less successful. You need to manage social-ecological systems in an ecosystem-based way with all stakeholders included. #OceanChat

Thanks, really clear piece of work that gets at some fundamentals relevant to any issue where status quo inertia and vested interests prevent systemic changes, even when they are widely recognised as needed.
