SO delightful when people really commit to a bit

Friday afternoon ballot count drop:
- Wilson's closed the gap by nearly 4 points since yesterday- she now has 48.8% of the vote to Harrell's 50.7%
- Girmay leading Balducci 53.25% to 45.5%

46% of ballots counted - if King County's estimate of 55% turnout stands, still a ways to go!

that sound you hear is every seattle journalist sighing very loudly before getting up to make another cup of coffee
Per King County elections, expect around 30,000 ballots in Seattle's drop today. Seems likely this thing is headed to next week.

Bruce Harrell leads Katie Wilson 53% to 46% in the first ballot count tonight. It's not unusual for the more progressive candidate to trail in the first drop and that gap will certainly narrow in later counts. Especially since so many people seem to have voted at the last second this election.

this was the scene at the greenlake ballot box 20 minutes before they were due: traffic backed up for blocks, people abandoning their cars to walk their ballots to the box in the rain. better late than never!

could not be more thrilled to have @shaylalove.bsky.social aboard at The Microdose! her first piece digs into the fascinating history of Ritalin-assisted therapy and what lessons we might take from it, especially as psychedelic-assisted therapy becomes more popular

in case you wanted to know how launch day is going, i accidentally tagged the ACTUAL Seattle Channel when i meant to tag @theseattlechannel.bsky.social 🙈
the very first episode of @citycastseattle.bsky.social just dropped! such a joy talking with @seattlechannel.bsky.social about what his city council sock puppets symbolize about Seattle politics.

(cringe warning: i was so earnestly excited that i attempted an airhorn impression)
🎉 Hey Neighbor, the City Cast Seattle pod is LIVE! And as if launching on Election Day wasn’t absurd enough, our first guest is a puppet and possibly Seattle’s funniest government critic: Seattle Channel (aka SC, for short).

yes I love the masters students who intern and write for me but .. don’t go!! reading TON was part of what I did instead www.theopennotebook.com
My TON story: I was teaching grad students in science writing when TON started up. The more I read it, the more I wondered why the grad students were paying tuition when TON offered a nearly the masters' education for free. I mean, FREE. And solidly good.
